Freesat, the free-to-air digital satellite television service, needed to increase its server capacity. Its website was being put under pressure by extreme fluctuations in site traffic. The numbers of visitors to the site notably soared in the run up to Christmas and its servers struggled to cope. Freesat also needed to increase scale as it wanted to launch an app that would allow users to browse through TV listings and record programmes via their mobiles. Freesat chose to host the app and website via Peer 1’s Mission Critical Cloud as it’s secure and allows the company to build scalability into its infrastructure.
