8 Million Stories work with BBC World News on a range of marketing projects including Paid Social, Digital Strategy, SEO and Content Marketing.
One key project is the Take 5 quiz application it developed to celebrate reaching five million likes on BBC Global News’ Facebook page. The current affairs quiz is developed for a global audience, allowing them to test their knowledge against other players around the world.
The quiz was updated every day for 14 days and allowed people across the world to challenge their friends to see who had the greatest current affairs knowledge. Each day people could see where they ranked against their friends, within their own country and globally on the interactive leader boards.
The game was playable on desktop, mobile, feature phones and tablets, and tried out by the BBC World News Team on live TV. It also went viral, with over 100,000 unique users playing in over 120 countries in the first two weeks.
The quiz gained international TV coverage, and spearheaded a successful blogger outreach and paid social campaign that pushed the page towards 10 million likes by the end of the year.
