What’s your current (or favourite) Facebook status?

I don’t have a Facebook profile.I suppose there’s a difference between understanding Facebook and other social media vehicles, their social, economic and political impact on brands and then using these tools for personal purposes. Who has the time anymore!

What does your role at Charterhouse involve, and what do you hope to achieve?

I’m helping to develop their well-established digital production offering into an industry-leading global service. It really is about achieving a balance between consumers, marketing and procurement needs; delivering highly-effective campaigns, the volume needed to cover multiple territories, whilst considering the economic pressures companies consistently face.

What was your first job?

Working as a print producer for a small creative agency (HBR) in Derbyshire. It taught me about craft, quality, the importance of people skills and how integral the production process is in delivering creativity and innovation.

What qualities make for a successful digital consultant?

Objectivity, humility, knowledge, strength and a thick skin.

What site or app could you not live without?

BBC mobile, how else could I find out whether my beloved Manchester City has won or lost?

Who would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

Spike Milligan, Morrissey, Marcus Aurelius, my wife and daughter. We wouldn’t be lacking in entertainment for the evening.

What do you think is the most significant issue currently facing digital marketers using social media?

How to continue the social conversation once campaigns and initial stimulation have run their course.

What’s the most listened to track on your iPod?

The Marriage Of Figaro (Mozart). Just gives me goose-bumps.

Who’s your favourite fictional character?

Sherlock Holmes. Being a consultant himself (in the criminal vertical) I’d love to have his powers of deduction.

And who do you admire most in the real world?

My mother and father. All they do is laugh, even though my mother has been disabled for longer than I care to remember.

What do you think will be the most important aspect of digital communications in the next 24 months?

It’s difficult to look at one single aspect. How brands and businesses continue to monetise video is extremely important economically. But also how do brands and businesses distribute, deliver and control their content and aspects of business worth money, across the various digital channels that now exist?
