JustGiving is the UK’s leading charity fundraising website. Since 2001, its users have collected over £450million for thousands of charities. The company’s vision is to enable any charity, however small, to use the web to raise money at very low cost, and to create fun and easy ways for ordinary people to raise extraordinary amounts of money for the causes they care about.
Brief
JustGiving is always looking for new ways to make online giving easier, and to help charities to tap into new sources of donations. A common request from JustGiving users was to have the ability to donate via PayPal, and JustGiving’s charity members also wanted to benefi t from that additional payment method without having to implement it themselves.
“Now, nearly 10% of donations on JustGiving are made via PayPal.”

Strategy/Execution
JustGiving added PayPal’s Express Checkout as an additional payment option.
Results
“Many of our users were asking for PayPal to be added as a payment option so we were keen to meet this demand,” says Heather Bird, Community Manager, Justgiving.
“PayPal is the payment method of choice for millions of internet users, many of whom have funds sitting in their PayPal accounts from, for example, sales on eBay.”
“We wanted to tap into this huge base of users and also this additional funding source, which our users had indicated they were keen to use to donate,” continues Heather.
“The integration was pretty straightforward and within the fi rst few hours of going live, we saw
thousands of pounds of donations going through PayPal.”
“Now, nearly 10% of donations on Justgiving are made via PayPal.”
“Integrating PayPal into our donation process has been great news for charities using Justgiving, because it connects them with PayPal’s 20 million customer accounts in the UK.”
“Any online business should give serious thought to integrating PayPal – it could help you tap into a huge network of customers and also provide a simple and secure checkout option for your users,” concludes Heather.
