Brief
Creative digital agency Pod1 in conjunction with Punkyduck was tasked by luxury designer women’s wear brand Amanda Wakeley with the design and build of a comprehensive wedding planner microsite and iPhone application to replicate all information when on the move.
The inspiration for this lay in the thousands of brides that visit the Amanda Wakeley bridal boutique every year looking for the perfect dress and who all want personal recommendations and advice for their big day. Brides-to-be look to the Amanda Wakeley bridal brand for advice on how to plan the perfect wedding, regarding her as a trustworthy source of knowledge. The Wedding Planner was conceived as a way of providing this insight from Amanda and creating an invaluable service to the consumer’s wedding journey.
Strategy/Execution
The site, which launched on June 10th offers a comprehensive and beautifully designed online destination with an on the move, i-Phone application to help with every aspect of the wedding planning. The bride can manage her guest list, plan her bridal calendar and keep track of her finances with a budget calculator. Pod1 also created a main “planner” section breaking down all the different categories involved in planning a wedding; from the dress, to the honeymoon, from wedding invites and stationary to the wedding night lingerie.
The bride has access to Amanda’s personal advice and recommendations within each of these individual categories, with a selection of her personal favourites from other luxury brands including Gieves & Hawkes, Myla and Smythson. The user has the choice to use these recommendations or add their own categories and favourite brands.
The site also allows the bride to add pictures to her planner, upload documents, share imagery with friends and family, add reminders for payments due or appointments, making this the most comprehensive wedding planner on the market.
The relating iPhone application has been designed to replicate the website exactly, and can be used as the sole planner or as a partner to the website. It replicates all the information and documentation the bride has gathered on the website, to be easily accessed at, for example, appointments and fittings.
The Wedding Planner website is free to use and available to all brides, not just customers of Amanda Wakeley. The corresponding i-Phone application is £2.99 to download.
Result
Since its launch just over a month ago The Wedding Planner has received over 800 sign-ups and 350 downloads of the iPhone application.
