If you have ever made a pair of curtains, you will know how complicated it is to get the measurements right and you will know of all the decisions on pelmets, poles and tracks that go with it.
Well try automating all that in to a user friendly, logical, website. And then chuck in all the functionality and logic required for ordering blinds, cushions, bedspreads, tie backs.
Oh and then allow the user to use their own material if they want.
And just to make it fun – engineer the user interface so that it can be used for quick ordering within the showroom and last but not least integrate the whole shebang with an offline order management system.
Then translate the whole thing into Chinese – OK well we didn’t got that far but it would not have been much of a surprise had it been requested.
Did I mention that the whole thing had to be fully search engine friendly? That the site has to work for users with javascript turned off.
Thankfully we were excused onus to make the site IE6 compatible – hooray!
Execution
Datadial maintains a team of in house programmers and designers and usability and SEO experts.
This is the sort of project that could only be developed successfully with full cooperation from each of these teams – had this meant dealing with separate agencies, all with their own agendas, then it’s likely the site would not have reached fruition.
It took longer than expected but the result is mighty fine
Results
Before being asked to rebuild the site we had actually been promoting it for two years. Impressed by our work ethic and results, Natural Curtain Company asked us to build the new site. At the time of writing they are no. 4 in Google for “curtains”
