Capcom Europe
|
|
Brief
Capcom Europe appointed Surrey based web developer, Dial Media Group to design and build their new European portal. The previous incarnation was cluttered, dated and decidedly non-web 2.0, however its audience was very active. So whilst, design and functionality was important, more important was to engage with existing users to ensure a smooth transition.
Strategy/Execution
DMG recruited 'brand evangelists', from the most active forum members to consult with throughout the build process to make sure the new tools being designed would suit them. They were involved throughout the entire project.
'Many agencies make the mistake of thinking that they know best when it comes to web design. However, we recognise that whilst online experts we may be, we are not always the target market. In this case the most important people to appeal to were those already using the previous website, despite its shortcomings. We engaged with these users and they told us exactly what they wanted. They were always there to make sure we kept on the right track. James Fernie, Managing Director said.
Results
Since the relaunch the site has been met with universal approval from users new and old.
Chiara Woolford, Senior Online Marketing & Community Manager at Capcom said,
'Right from the outset it was clear that DMG understood what we wanted to achieve and put forward a proposal that clearly delivered against this. Throughout the development process we have been impressed by the team – its attention to detail, speed of response and a willingness to put in the extra hours to ensure our target launch date was met. The result is a site which has been incredibly well received by our active community and indeed has seen new registrations rise by 400% in the first few weeks of launch. DMG has demonstrated remarkable technical competence, creativity, strategic thinking and outstanding project management.'
