Brief
Abbott & Holder is one of the more reputable art galleries in London, established in the early 1900’s. The gallery required an interactive & engaging website to showcase a unique series of watercolour paintings produced by James Henry Nixon.
The series of work depicts a historic sporting event, hosted by the Earl of Eglinton in 1839. The artist successfully captured the unique essence of Victorian Sporting culture in his “Eglinton Tournament” series.
Lilo was entrusted with the creative task of designing and developing an interactive website that would not only showcase this art collection, but also capture the unique essence of each individual painting.
Strategy
The objective was to create a digital exhibit where each individual work of art can be viewed and examined closely via a series intelligent zoom features. The site had to provide prospective art-buyers with enough visual information to make a buying decision.
Execution
Lilo’s creative design and development of the website was inspired by the artwork itself and the site is a successful synthesis of detail and simplicity.
Viewers can select and enlarge various sections on these high-resolution images. The layout and design of this website is simple and user-friendly, giving clients and art lovers the ability to navigate around the site and scroll between the images with ease.
