Brief
The Design Room was tasked with the design and build of the new Whiteworx website; a new venture to make online store/shop creation and management easy and achievable for all – regardless of technical ability.
Strategy
To understand the needs of the site, it was essential first to understand two key audiences; the online shop creator and their target market. The Design Room undertook extensive research into both on and offline shops and customer behaviour. These findings then defined the key features of the fields used within Whiteworx, which were written and programmed to be easily added (or not) by the shop owner.
Execution
With heavy concentration on the back-end of the site, the Design Room created Whiteworx to offer easy online shop creation with an unlimited product range, easy image upload and easily adaptable assignable pricing and promotions.
With features such as multiple shops per user and stock control functions built in, Whiteworx was tested for every eventuality and then re-worked to refine all capabilities and ensure best product offering. Written in php, XHTML and java script, the aim has been to make the entire process easy and user-friendly.
Results
Created to be released in stages with the ability to add facilities such as alternative payment processes through bolt on modules, Whiteworx is future-proofed and user-friendly. Not only does it offer a platform from which an online shop can be created, but features such as stock control and invoicing ensure that all management requirements are taken care of too – so there’s no need to have separate programs as it’s all undertaken from one central hub.
Through only word of mouth marketing, Whiteworx has already gained a lot of interest and The Design Room has provided a solution to a complex task with intricate programming that is well designed and created always with the end-user in mind.
